Ancestre
Ancestre is a proyect which starts at the end of the year 2004 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.
At the beginning this proyect was called Xolotl, which finally changes the name by Ancestre. The main idea
is still present and based on these prehispanic desings, we change, redesign and transform the images so
that we can take them to you trhough our printings using some kinds of clothes. We think these are great
treasures that you should meet and get to know.
All the designs you will see in our t-shirts and some other kind of clothes we will be making forward are not
the original design of the prehispanic cultures, we took some liberty to remake them, to put them into colors
and to place them between lines and shapes lookg for a picture that gets into the modern world.
Our work is not only based on one culture, we take designs from every culture we find, right now we are specially
working with images that come from MIxtecs, Aztecs, Zapotecs, Toltecs, Mayan, etc.
¿What does Ancestre mean?
Ancestre is the origin of the word Ancestor. We return to the origin of the same word, with this we are trying
find ourselves in the ancestors syncretisms, occidentals and mesoamericans cultures, mix and fusion of what we came from.
The snake placed in our logo making the letter "S", is one of the multiples representations of Quetzalcoatl,
the Feathered Snake.
